National Outdoors Month, so we’ve put together a long list of wonderful outdoor activities for the whole family! Most of these ideas won’t cost you a dime, but they will help you create lasting memories and build healthy, active lifestyle habits. Although June is almost over, it’s now officially summer, so we hope this list can be a handy go-to when you need something fun to do on a nice day.First I’m going to highlight my top 5 favorite outdoor activities and then we’ll list out more than 35 more activities to get you inspired to enjoy some fresh air outside the RV.

Ride a bike

I love to bike as much as possible. From home, I’ll often bike to the farmer’s market, friend’s houses, the gym, church, restaurants, basically wherever I can get to safely by bike. I love to feel the wind sweeping over me as I zoom down steep hills. If you don’t have a bike, you can usually find a shop that rents bikes for as cheap as $15 each for a full day. Look for bike trails in your area or near the campground and take a group out for a ride. Be sure to discuss basic safety and signals before you head out, and always wear a helmet!

Walk on the beach at sunset

I’m not much of a beach bum. I don’t love spending a flaming hot day at the beach. I prefer to head out to the beach a little before sunset and walk as far as possible, watching the changing colors of the sunset over the water. This is even more enjoyable when you’re with your sweetheart or friends. There’s always something interesting to see along the walk: fallen sand castles, beach glass, driftwood, shells and more.

Visit a farm

I’m all into the local food movement. We know the farmers that produce most of the food we eat at home. Whenever I get the chance, I like to visit a farm and learn about how vegetables are grown, animals raised and artisan food items are made. There are many farms that invite visitors and see it as an opportunity to teach children and adults about where food comes from. You can also visit U-pick farms for a hands-on experience! Strawberries are in season right now!

Have a bonfire / campfire

There’s something completely mesmerizing about fire. I’m not usually the one building the fire, but I always enjoy sitting around a campfire with friends and family. Sometimes we tell stories, sometimes we sing, but the best part is spending time outside with my favorite people in nature, listening to the sounds of the evening and quietly watching the changing colors of the crackling fire.

Visit a botanical garden

On our honeymoon we visited the famous Butchart Gardens near Victoria on Vancouver Island. There are multiple colorful gardens including a rose garden, Mediterranean garden, Japanese garden, Italian garden and the grand sunken garden! It was so peaceful to walk though and see bees buzzing about on bright blooms and smell the fragrant perfumes that brought them. You can find gardens across the US and many have hands-on children’s activities included.
