I think we all can agree that when you’re out camping for the weekend with your family, the last thing you want to do is spend your evenings cooped up in the kitchen cooking. We have compiled a few tips and tricks that make preparing meals while RVing easier.
1.) Prep meals before you hit the road: Before you hit the road, take some time to map out what meals you will want to fix while RVing. When you can, it’s also a good idea to do food prep before hitting the road. If you plan on making one-pot meals, you can put the entire meal together in advance and store it in a Ziploc bag until you’re ready to cook it.
2.) Portion out ingredients: To save space and time, consider pre-portioning ingredients and only pack what you will use for meals. If your recipe calls for two cups of flour, measure it out and leave the rest at home.
3.) Throw it on the grill when you can: One of the best ways to take the hassle out of preparing meals while RVing is to cook what you can on the grill. Grilling doesn’t have to be just standard burgers and hot dogs. There are tons of tasty grill recipes out there. One of my favorite things to cook on the grill is corn on the cob. I grill it husk and all, which steams the corn perfectly and makes shucking much easier.
4.) Get the kids involved: Make lunch a fun activity! Have the kids make their own pudgy pies. Pie irons can be found online or at most camping stores and the recipe possibilities are endless.
5.) Be creative with leftovers: Have leftover steak and veggies from dinner the night before? Scramble them up with some eggs and make a gourmet breakfast for your crew. Utilizing leftovers is an easy and cost-effective way to make meal prep a breeze.
With these tips and tricks, we hope prepping meals on your next RV trip will be a fun and hassle-free activity. Do you have a favorite RV cooking tip or recipe?
